Microtech IT & Cybersecurity Services held our 2026 annual team retreat at Pelican Grand Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, from August 14-16, 2026.
The weekend brought members of our team together for a few days of planning, meetings, meals, and time together as Microtech celebrates 30 years in business.
Microtech was founded right here in Fort Lauderdale in 1996. Although our team now works throughout South Florida and other parts of the country, getting as many of us together as possible in the city where it all started made this year's retreat a little more meaningful.
We have also been fortunate to hold our retreat at Pelican Grand more than once.
Every year, we seem to come home with stories that eventually make their way into conversations with our clients, friends, and families.
This year, we thought we would write a few of them down.
Bringing the Microtech Team Together in Fort Lauderdale
For most of the year, our team is busy helping clients, solving problems, answering calls, working on projects, and communicating through email, chat, phone calls, and video meetings. Our annual retreat gives us an opportunity to change that for a few days.
Some of us drove into Fort Lauderdale. Others hopped on Brightline from around South Florida. For teammates coming from farther away, it meant making the trip back to South Florida.
Not everyone could make it this year, and that is okay, too. We still found ways to bring some of our missing teammates into the weekend.
At one point, that meant getting Jeffrey up on FaceTime so he could say hello and join in on the fun.
There is something different about getting everyone around the same table instead of seeing each other through a screen.
And there is something especially meaningful about doing it in Fort Lauderdale, the city Microtech has called home since 1996.
Arriving at Pelican Grand Beach Resort
One of our favorite little moments happened almost immediately after arriving at Pelican Grand. We walked in and saw the Microtech logo displayed on the TV, welcoming our team to the resort.
It was a small detail, but everyone noticed it.
Those little touches make a difference, and it was a pretty great way to feel welcomed back.
From there, we headed into the Everglades Room, which became our home base for Friday afternoon.
The laptops came out, everyone caught up, and we spent a few hours looking back at the year, sharing ideas, talking about where Microtech is headed, and discussing what we want to accomplish next.
The Everglades Room worked perfectly for our team. It gave us a place to get everyone around the same table and have some of the conversations that are simply better in person.
When we finished, all we had to do was walk outside and enjoy the ocean.
A Little Work and a Lot of Time Together
Of course, when you are an IT and cybersecurity company, everything does not stop because you are at a team retreat.
When a client needed us, we were still there.
A few laptops came out throughout the weekend. Calls were answered. When someone needed to step away and take care of something, the rest of the team supported them.
That is simply part of what we do.
We take care of what needs to be handled, help each other when needed, and then get back to enjoying the weekend.
Thankfully, there was plenty of time when the laptops stayed closed.
Friday evening brought everyone together for happy hour followed by dinner at OCEAN2000, Pelican Grand's oceanfront restaurant.
Saturday gave us a chance to slow down and enjoy where we were. We spent time at the beach and pool, had lunch together, caught up, and took our annual Microtech team photo overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.
Saturday night, we headed to Shooters Waterfront in Fort Lauderdale for dinner together along the Intracoastal.
Some of the best parts of the weekend, though, were the simplest ones.
Sitting by the ocean talking. Sharing a meal. Laughing about old stories. Getting to know the people you work with a little better.
And sometimes there is nothing better than ending the night outside with a late-night cigar, talking, laughing, and relaxing together.
No meeting. No presentation. No agenda.
Just time together.
Those are usually the moments you remember.
Celebrating 30 Years of Microtech in Fort Lauderdale
This year's retreat had a little extra meaning.
Microtech celebrates 30 years in business in 2026.
Microtech was founded in Fort Lauderdale in 1996. Today, our team provides managed IT and cybersecurity services to businesses throughout South Florida and across the country.
A lot has changed in technology over those 30 years.
Operating systems have changed. The way businesses communicate has changed. Cyber threats have changed. The tools our clients rely on every day have changed dramatically.
What has not changed is the importance of people.
Technology may be what we work with, but good service still comes down to people.
Strong teams support each other. Relationships matter. Trust matters. Showing up when someone needs you matters.
We are grateful for the clients who have trusted Microtech over the years, the people who have been part of our story, and the opportunity to still get together after 30 years to learn from each other, laugh together, and enjoy being a team.
What We Will Remember About Pelican Grand
Pelican Grand is a beautiful place.
We enjoyed the beach, pool, food, meeting space, and having the Atlantic Ocean right outside.
What continues to stand out to us, though, is the hospitality.
From seeing our logo waiting for us when we arrived to all the little things throughout the weekend, the Pelican Grand team made us feel welcome.
Giovanna around the pool was wonderful. The valet team was great every time we came and went. We had a great evening at OCEAN2000, and the Everglades Room gave us exactly what we needed for our meetings.
We also know there were plenty of people working behind the scenes whose names we may never know who helped make everything run smoothly.

We always seem to come home from our retreat telling our clients, friends, and families about something that happened at Pelican Grand.
A funny moment. A great meal. A conversation. Something someone said. A late night sitting around together.
Over the years, Pelican Grand has become a special part of our Microtech retreat tradition.
